Neuromuscular Therapy - Theory and Treatment of the Rotator Cuff

Come and discover the effectiveness of NMT through exploration of the complex rotator cuff. The morning will include anatomy / physiology and corrective patterns of the rotator cuff muscles. The afternoon is a full treatment application of the rotator muscles. Neuromuscular Therapy is a comprehensive program of soft tissue manipulation techniques that balance the central nervous system with the musculoskeletal system. Clients who suffer from acute to chronic pain resulting from occupational, sports and/or automobile injuries, can greatly benefit from receiving NMT treatments.

Postural Assessment and Myofascial Mobilization of the Hip

Do you have clients who have chronic low back and hip pain? In this workshop, we will explore the complex iliopsoas, quadratus lumborum, and piriformis muscles. This workshop is focused on the myology of the region, in order to use regional postural assessment to help distinguish which set of muscles are dysfunctional. The second half of the workshop will center on specific Myofascial Mobilization treatment techniques of the region.

Structural Assessment: The Art of In-depth Analysis

The design of this course is to teach the skill of postural analysis, and give the therapist confidence to skillfully talk to their clients about their postural distortions. At the end of this course, the therapist will have the knowledge to look at the body more wholistically. The therapist will also have the self-confidence in setting-up a treatment plan for the client's future treatments thereby increasing income potential.

Myofascial Mobilization Certification

Myofascial release and soft tissue Mobilization (MM) are highly interactive stretching techniques of fascia and muscle. In this course we will explore the anatomy and physiology of fascia and the relationship of fascia with the musculoskeletal system. How non-energy efficient posture leads to Myofascial Dysfunction, an underlying cause of many common chronic body complaints. The basis for the evaluation begins with learning how to perform an in-depth postural analysis of a client.

Hands-on techniques will include:

  • Tense and relax
  • Reciprocal inhibition
  • Pin and stretch
  • Passive and active stretching
  • Body-mobilization techniques
  • Specific Myofascial Release techniques

Cost: $275/weekend

Take courses in any order. Three separate courses offered over three weekends, take one, two, or all three modules. If all three modules are taken, then a 48 hr. certification in Myofascial Release and Soft Tissue Mobilization can be achieved.

  • $50 deposit required/weekend to hold a slot.
  • Early Registration 1 mo. prior to start date for each weekend $250 paid in full.
  • Early Registration for entire Certification is $695 with $100 deposit by April 3rd, balance paid May 3rd.
  • This course will close out with the first 18 students who register.
  • 16 CE hrs per weekend.
Advanced Myofascial Mobilization

The Advanced Myofascial Mobilization courses are designed to take the myofascial therapist’s skills to a new level. We will explore the musculo-fascial anatomy of various regions of the body. The lectures will focus on advanced musclo-skeletal anatomy and joint movement, and there relationships to posture at each region of the body, so to further enhance the therapist’s assessment techniques. Hands-on techniques will also include exercises and movement assessment to use with your clients.

Neuromuscular Therapy in NYC

Neuromuscular therapy (NMT) is a system of soft tissue manipulation that balances the nervous system and the musculoskeletal systems. NMT enhances the function of the joints, muscles and biomechanics throughout the body. This course is based on the life long work of Dr Janet Travell and her dedication to the study of trigger point referral patterns that occur in nearly every muscle of the body. Dr Travell, Dr Leon Chiatow and others who dedicated their lives to the treatment of the body have devised specific treatment protocols that will be employed within this course.

Course content includes:

  • Comprehensive muscle study – location, function, stressors and trigger point referral patterns of over 130 muscles
  • 60+ hrs of extensive hands-on work
  • Various muscle and connective tissue dysfunctions i.e., TMJ Syndrome
  • How the muscle relates to posture
  • Corrective actions for the client to employ

EARTH HEART YOGA TEACHER TRAINING

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The Muscular Wellness Institute is proudly endorsing Earth Heart Yoga's offering of a 200hr. Hatha Yoga Teacher Training Program (starting September 2008 and completing May 2009). The focus of this program is to provide students with the appropriate training to successfully and safely teach Hatha Yoga as based on the 8 Limb path of Yoga.

The program meets the current guidelines of the Yoga Alliance for course content and scope allowing students who successfully complete the training program to register with the Yoga Alliance for RYT registration in Hatha Yoga.

Joyce Kendall E-RYT 500, director, and Ashley Ludman E-RYT, co-director, are Anusara-Inspired instructors offering training that expands beyond the 8-limb path and includes teachings of the Rajanika Tantra Yoga Philosophy and Anusara-Inspired principles of alignment and teaching methodology.

While the focus of the training is to prepare students to teach yoga, the training program is also suitable for any yoga practitioner wishing to deepen their own practice in skill and knowledge across all areas of the yogic path, even if they do not wish to teach.

The focus of the program is to provide each participant with:

  • A strong foundation in the 8 limbs of yoga from which they can deepen their own personal practice and prepare to share their experience with others.
  • The tools and experience to instruct others in the art of yoga with a high skill level in all 8 limbs with an emphasis on joyful and safe instruction.
  • Anusara-Inspired Alignment principles, philosophy and teaching methodology.
  • The development of the instructors’ unique gifts and style of teaching that also includes the use of a heart felt theme or philosophical teaching to each class.
  • Provide the instructors with a 200 hr or more program that exceeds the standards of the Yoga Alliance so upon satisfactory completion they are eligible for registration with the alliance.
