Upcoming 2017 MWI Courses

Myofascial Mobilization Weekend Workshop

This is a 48-hour CE granting program (NCBTMB/NY approved) taught in two 3-day modules.

Dates: Sept. 8th, 9th & 10th of 2017 (weekend 1)
Sept. 29th, 30th & Oct. 1st of 2017 (weekend 2)
Time: 9am to 6pm
Location: CATA, New York, NY
Early Bird Ticket: $850
Standard Price: $950
Package Ticket (2 workshops): $1,550

In this course, we will explore the anatomy of fascia and the relationship of fascia with the musculoskeletal system. All treatments will be based on postural assessments. Postural dysfunction is either a structural or functional asymmetry within the body. Throughout this six day course we will look at regional assessments of the major body regions (e.g., shoulder complex) and come up with treatment planning for the muscloskeletal asymmetries.

The goal of this workshop is to teach the characteristics of fascia, assessment techniques, teach techniques of myofascial mobilization, in order to allow students to change their relationship with myo-fascial system.

Integrated Neuromuscular Therapy and Ortho Assessment of the Lower Leg and Foot

This class can be taken independently, or as part of the full series that comprises the
Integrated Neuromuscular Therapy and Ortho Assessment Certification.

Dates: Saturday-Sunday, October 21-22, 2017
Time: 9:30am - 5:00pm
Location: Swedish Institute, New York, NY
Early Bird Ticket: $375
Standard Price: $425 after October 7

This module will explore musculoskeletal anatomy and function of the lower leg (all four compartments and the foot). Lectures will be focused on muscle location / function and activity of daily living (work, hobbies, sports) stressors that will cause dysfunction within the musculoskeletal system. Wiith this information, we will examine the main physiological factors that may create or intensify pain patterns, including nerve entrapment / compression, trigger points, pathologies and postural distortions.

The course will also include Ortho Assessments to the nearby joints and tissue, so as an LMT we know when and where to treat appropriately. We will then apply this knowledge with specific integrated NMT protocol, by applying manual advanced tissue techniques to relieve myofascial trigger points and other soft tissue dysfunction. Practice will include demonstration, palpation, verbal walk through and practice time.

Included within the course:

  • Comprehensive muscle study – location, function, stressors and trigger point referral patterns of over 12+ muscles
  • Various muscle and connective tissue dysfunctions / pathologies will be discussed i.e., Pronated arch, supinated arch, inversions sprain/strain, shin splints and compartment syndrome
  • An Orthopedic testing technique will be demonstrated for each region / joint
  • The relationship of the arches to postural balance
  • Techniques will include: Trigger point release, Myofascial Mobilization principles, Muscle Energy Techniques, Cross Fiber Friction, and various muscle lengthening techniques. Also included emphasis on utilizing correct body mechanics
  • 10 + hrs of extensive hands-on work
  • Extensive manual of all treatments, muscles (their anatomy and physiology), most lecture notes

Active Myofascial Mobilization Weekend Workshop

This is a 48-hour CE granting program (NCBTMB/NY approved) taught in two 3-day modules.

Dates: Oct. 27th, 28th & 29th of 2017 (weekend 1)
Nov. 10th, 11th & 12th of 2017 (weekend 2)
Time: 9am to 6pm
Location: CATA, New York, NY
Early Bird Price (Register by Sept. 27th): $850
Standard Price: $950
Special Price for this workshop and Myofascial Mobilization: $1550

The Active Myofascial Mobilization (AMM) course is designed to take therapists’ hands-on and assessment skills to a new level. AMM is an advanced course on working with myofascial imbalance that leads to biomechanical and postural asymmetries.

We will explore the musculo-fascial anatomy of various regions of the body and discuss some of the latest theories and research regarding fascia. The lectures will also focus on advanced musclo-skeletal anatomy and joint movement, and their relationships to posture at each region of the body, so to further enhance therapists’ assessment techniques.
